LEVEL 1: Elementary School
Please write at least a 100-word essay on the topic in English. Entries may be handwritten or typed.
LEVEL 2: Middle School
Please write a creative essay of at least 250-words on the topic in English, Sinhala, or Tamil. Contestants may use sources to find information; however, the essay should be written using your own words and sources must be cited. Entries may be handwritten or typed.
LEVEL 3: High School
Please write a creative essay of at least 350-words on the topic in English, Sinhala, or Tamil. Contestants may use sources to find information; however, the essay should be written using your own words and sources must be cited. Entries may be handwritten or typed.
LEVEL 4: Open to all age groups
Please write a creative essay of at least 500-words on the topic in English, Sinhala, or Tamil. Contestants may use sources to find information; however, the essay should be written using your own words and sources must be cited. Entries may be handwritten or typed.
Art Competition
LEVEL 1 & 2: Elementary, Middle, High School
Please create an original artwork on 9”x 12” paper or canvas representing the topic. Contestants may use any medium or color to create original artwork.
LEVEL 3: Open Category
Participants of all age groups are welcome to create an original artwork on 16” x 20” canvas representing the topic. Contestants may use any color or medium on Canvas to create original artwork.
Digital Media Competition
LEVEL 3: Open Category
Participants of all age groups are welcome to create an original documentary style video about Sri Lanka not to exceed 5 minutes. The video must be in English and should only contain copyright free materials.
Note: All entries will be posted on SLAALV website and could be used or referenced in future programs of the association. Please submit your entries along with the application form below. The competition will be judged by a panel of educators and professionals. All decisions are final.
